Greetings from Morocco,

Any other yoga practitioners out there? I'm new to the group. I've been doing hatha yoga for a few years now, but I'm still not quite up to calling myself a yogi. Maybe just because I do other physical disciplines (running, weightlifting, martial arts) or because I follow other spiritual disciplines (religion). But I do enjoy yoga and would like to discuss with others.

Here in Morocco there's not an abundance of yoga practitioners. I go to a small class locally that's entirely made up of expats from the various embassies. I work at the US embassy here in Rabat, BTW.

Looking forward to hearing from others out there.

Best wishes,
Joshua

`Hi!
I'm new here, I have also been practicing yoga for around 2 years. I however have started calling myself a yogini, as I have expanded my yoga practice to everyday life on and off the matt. I am currently taking a yoga teacher training course, started the course to expand my knowledge of yoga, and am now thinking I may want to begin teaching once I finish the course.

I'd love to find some people who are willing to talk yoga, whether it be about asanas, meditation, pranayama, texts, yoga desciplines, etc. Any yoga experience I'd love to talk about.

Namaste and shanti

Kamma

`Hi
I practise hatha yoga ang ashtanga. In Poland many people know nothing about yoga but more and more people start practising (mostly women).
Yoga gives me energy, optimism and it's great for my body.
I have problems with pranayama but I try to do my best

I'm not very good in English
Greetings from Poland!

The asanas (physical postures) alone will not bring about true mental and spiritual progression. One must practice Pranayama and meditation along with the asanas in order to fully benifit from the asanas.
Katikan - if you have trouble with pranayama watch this video of Swami Ramdev. This man has a mission to heal the world. He isn't trying to sell anything and he doesn't want anyone to follow him, he simply wants all to practice pranayama and see for themselves how it can transform the body and mind :

Here is a web page with graphical representations of the different pranayams

I would also recommend purchasing this book:

Best of luck and keep it all up.

`Asana is a beginning which may organically lead to the other 8 limbs. So do not fret. A book written by Stephen Cope, called something like, Yoga-The Quest for the True Self, I read quite some time ago, explains the process in eloquent detail.

Namaste,
Rand

`Hi community.

Started Yoga twice a week about 3 months ago. Interesting..... I am noticing some changes in myself but wanted to see if you guys experienced the same. I used to have cravings for food, especially deserts. I used to eat chocolate / sweets non stop, I absolutely could not control myself. 3 months into Yoga, I feel like I have more control over these things. I get to choose what I eat and when, as a result, I have lost weight, and feel much healthier overall. Have you guys had similar experiences?
